Buttermilk Spice Doughnuts^ Recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup: Sugar,
2: Eggs, well beaten
1/4 cup: Soft shortening,
4 cup: Flour,
2 tsp: Baking powder,
1 tsp: Baking soda,
1/2 tsp: Salt,
1/4 tsp: Nutmeg,
1 cup: Buttermilk,
Directions:
Gradually add sugar to eggs, beating well after each addition. Beat in
shortening. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to sugar mixture
alternately with buttermilk, mixing well after each addition. Chill
dough. turn dough onto floured pastry cloth or board. Knead 3-4 times
to form a ball. Cut in half. roll each half about 1/3" thick and cut
with a sharp cutter. Fry in hot fat.

temperatures. I have typed them in as they appear in the book, typos
and all.
