Soft Molasses Apple Cookies Recipe

1/2 cup: Shortening,
1/2 cup: Sugar,
1: Egg,
1 cup: Molasses,
1 tbsp: Lemon juice,
3 1/2 cup: All purpose flour, sifted
1 tsp: Cinnamon,
3/4 tsp: Ground cloves,
1/2 tsp: Ginger,
2 tsp: Baking soda,
1/8 tsp: Salt,
1/3 cup: Boiling water,
1 cup: Tart apples, pared, cored, and finely chopped
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in egg. Stir in molasses and lemon
juice; blend well. Sift together dry indredients; add to creamed
mixture. Stir in boiling water; mix well. Add chopped apples; mix.
Chill thoroughly. Drop by teaspoons on greased baking sheets. Bake in
350~ oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
