Sour Cream Apple Squares (1975) Recipe

Ingredients:
2 cup: Flour,
1/2 t: Salt,
2 cup: Firmly packed brown sugar,
1 cup: Dairy sour cream,
1/2 cup: Butter, softened
1 t: Vanilla,
1 cup: Chopped nuts,
1: Egg,
1 t: Up to ...,
2 cup: Finely chopped peeled,
2 t: Cinnamon,
-apples,
1 t: Baking soda,
1975: Pillsbury Bake Off Winner Heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly spoon,

Directions:
flour into measuring cup; level off. In large bowl, combine flour,
brown sugar and butter; beat at low speed until crumbly. Stir in
nuts. Press 2 3/4 c of crumb mixture in bottom of ungreased 13 x 9
inch pan. To remaining mixture, add cinnamon, baking soda, salt, sour
cream, vanilla and egg; mix well. Stir in apples. Spoon evenly over
base. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes or until toothpick
inserted in center comes out clean. Cut into squares. Serve with
whipped cream or ice cream, if desired. Luella Maki, MN.
