Gebraaide Hoender (spiced Roast Chicken)(south African) Recipe

Ingredients:
1: Chicken, cut up
1 Clove: garlic, crushed
-Salt,
1/8 t: Each of:,
1 cup: Water,
-turmeric,
1 lbs: Potatoes, diced
-fenugreek,
-Oil,
-cumin,
1: Onion, chopped finely
-fennel,
-Pinch ginger,
-allspice,
Directions:
Rub each piece of chicken with salt and place the pieces in a skillet
with 1 cup of water. Cover and simmer gently. After 15 minutes, add
the potatoes, a little oil if necessary, and the onion. Add also the
spices and the ginger and garlic. Now simmer for an additional 30
minutes. Serve with rice or vegetables. Serves 4.
