Sweet Sour Cabbage (zeli Na Sladko)--czech Recipe

Ingredients:

Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.04

Directions:
Shred head of cabbage or cut thin. Brown diced onion in small amount
of fat. Add cabbage, add hot water, barely covering cabbage. Add 1
ts. caraway seed. Salt. Boil 20 or 30 minutes. Add 1 T. vinegar
and about the same of sugar. Mix well. Let heat through.

Melt 3 T. fat in skillet, add 3 T. flour; brown until a real dark
brown. Add 2 or 3 cloves garlic sliced, cook a few minutes longer,
add 1 1/2 c. beef broth or hot water. Cook until smooth. Add salt
and pepper to taste. Serve over boiled beef.
