Betty Crockers Banana Cake Recipe

Ingredients:
1/2 cup: Soft shortening,
1 1/2 cup: Sugar,
2 large: Eggs,
2 1/4 cup: Cake flour,
1/4 tsp: Baking powder,
3/4 tsp: Baking soda,
1 tsp: Salt,
1/4 cup: Buttermilk,
1 cup: Mashed banana, about 3
1/2 cup: Nuts, chopped, optional
Bananas,

Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and beat in
thoroughly. Add cake flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt,
stirring in alternately with mashed banana and buttermilk. Add
chopped nuts, if desired. Makes 2) 9-inch layers or a 9 x 13-inch
cake.

For layer cake, use whipped cream and sliced bananas for filling and
cover cake with more whipped cream, after the cake has cooled. Place
slices of banana upright around outer edge. Refrigerate any remaining
cake.
