Brown Beef Cubes Recipe

Ingredients:
4 tbsp: Shortening,
Salt,
12 lbs: Beef, cut for stew
Pepper,
Directions:
Heat shortening in 2 heavy skillets; brown beef on all sides in hot
fat.
Place beef in large heavy kettle; add seasonings and water to a depth
of 1 inch.
Cover, simmer until tender, 1-2 hours. Cool, pack meat in quart,
pint and half pint containers ( for various recipes ), packaging
broth separately. Freeze
