Moms Spiced Apple Punch Recipe

Ingredients:
2 tsp: Ground cinnamon,
1 quart: Ginger ale, chilled
1 tsp: Dried grated lemon peel,
2: Red Delicious apples, cut
1/4 tsp: Ground cloves,
. crosswise into 1/4 inch,
1/4 tsp: Ground allspice,
. thick slices, and
1/4 tsp: Ground nutmeg,
. cinnamon sticks to,
1 gram: Apple cider,
. garnish,

Directions:
Place spices in a 6-inch square of cheesecloth or a coffee filter and
tie with string. Pour the cider into a stockpot. Add the bundle of
spices. Stirring occasionally, cook over medium-low heat 1 1/2 hours.
Remove from the heat; cool to room temperature. Remove the spice
bundle and discard. Place the punch in a covered container and freeze.

Remove the punch from the freezer 4 hours before serving to partially
thaw. To serve, break into chunks. Add the ginger ale and stir until
slushy. Ladle into glasses and garnish with apple slices and cinnamon
sticks.

Makes about twenty-two 6oz servings.
