Boiled Raisin Bread Recipe

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup: Raisins,
1/2 cup: Raisin water,
1 1/2 cup: Water,
1 tsp: Soda,
1/4 cup: Butter or margarine,
1 tsp: Nutmeg,
3/4 cup: Lightly packed brown sugar,
1 tsp: Cinnamon,
1: Egg, well beaten
1/2 tsp: Vanilla,
1 1/2 cup: Flour,
1/2 cup: Chopped walnuts, optional

Directions:
Directions Simmer raisins in water for 20 minutes. Drain raisins and
save 1/2 cup of raisin water.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream
butter, sugar and egg together. Dissolve soda in the 1/2 cup of
raisin water. Aift 1/2 cup of the flour over the raisins. Measure and
sift remaining dry ingredients together and add alternately with
raisin water to the butter sugar mixture. Add floured raisins,
vanilla and nuts last. Turn batter into greased 4 x 8 loaf pan and
bake in preheated oven for 35 minutes or until done.
