Ginger Applesauce Recipe

Ingredients:
10 medium: Granny Smith Apples *,
2: 2-1/2" Cinnamon Sticks,
1 cup: Apple Juice,
1 tsp: Grated Lemon Zest,
1/3 cup: Packed Brown Sugar,
1 1/2 tbsp: Fresh Ginger,
1/4 tsp: Grated Nutmeg,

Directions:
* Granny Smith apples should be pared, cored and coarsely chopped.

~------------- ~-- Place apples, cinnamon, apple juice and lemon zest
in a large saucepan or Dutch oven. Simmer covered, stirring
occasionally, over medium low heat until apples are soft, 20-25
minutes. Stir in sugar to taste, the ginger and the nutmeg. Cook
until sugar is dissolved and sauce thickens, about 5 minutes. Serve
warm or cold. Remove cinnamon sticks just before serving. Makes
