Directions:
1. Add it to the fillings for canneloni, ravioli, or tortellini.

2. Add a pinch to steamed or sauted spinach or to spinach souffl.

3. Lightly spice fruit butters.

4. Stir a bit into potatoes or sweet potatoes mashed with milk,
butter, and salt and pepper.

5. Use as a pickling spice (i.e., with green tomato pickles or mango
chutney).

6. Add it liberally to pumpkin or mincemeat pie or other traditional

7. Sprinkle it on top of eggnog or mulled wine.

8. Grind 1 heaping tbs black peppercorns, 2 tsp whole cloves, 1 tsp
ground ginger, and 2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg to make quatre-pices,
the multi-purpose French spice mixture.

9. Make nutmeg syrup to serve warm over ice cream or pancakes: Combine


cup sugar and 1 tsp flour in a saucepan over medium heat; whisk in
1 cup boiling water; bring to a boil, reduce heat, and stir until
syrup is slightly thickened; finally, beat in 1 tbs butter and 2 tsp
freshly grated nutmeg.

10. Make your own garam masala for Indian dishes by grinding into a
powder 1 tsp black peppercorns,

tsp ground cinnamon, 1 tbs cardamon
seeds, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1 tsp cloves and about 1/3 of a whole
nutmeg.
