Plain Tomato Sauce [salsa Di Pomodoro] Recipe

Ingredients:
1 quart: Tomato puree *,
1/2 cup: Olive oil,
3: Garlic cloves, sliced
Salt,
2: Sweet basil sprigs,
Directions:
~* May be canned or home-canned ; amount is approximate.
Heat saucepan. Add oil, basil and garlic and cook only until garlic is
softened. Add puree and a little salt. Cook for 20 minutes or until
creamy. May be made ahead of time and frozen in recipe-size batches.
