Sweet & Sour Loaf Recipe

Ingredients:
3 slice: bread, white,
1 cup: milk,
2: eggs,
1 medium: onion, chopped
1 tablespoon: salt,
1/4 teaspoon: pepper,
2 lb: ground beef,
1 lb: ground pork,

SAUCE
2 tablespoon: butter (or marg.),
1/4 cup: sugar, brown, firmly packed
2 tablespoon: cornstarch,
1/2 teaspoon: salt,
20 oz: pineapple chunks,
1/3 cup: vinegar,
1 tablespoon: soy sauce,
4 oz: pimientos, cut in strips
1 large: green pepper, cut in strips

Directions:
Trim crust from bread; tear bread into small pieces. Pour milk over
bread in a large bowl and let stand several minutes. Add eggs; beat
with a rotary beater until smooth. Add onion, salt, pepper, and
meat; mix well.

Shape into a loaf in a shallow baking pan. Bake at 325 degrees for
1-3/4 hours or until done. Cool 15 minutes before slicing. Serve
slices topped with Sauce.

Sauce: Melt butter; add brown sugar, cornstarch, and salt, stirring
until smooth. Drain pineapple; add syrup to sauce mixture, stirring
to keep smooth. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. Add
vinegar, soy sauce, pineapple chunks, pimiento, and green pepper;
heat briefly. Yield: about 2 cups.

Yield: 8 servings
