Decadent Chocolate Date Torte Recipe

Ingredients:
1 package: Semisweet Chocolate Chips 12 oz,
1/2 cup: Butter or margarine,
4: Egg,
2 tbsp: Sugar,
1 cup: Dates chopped,
2 tbsp: Flour,
1 tbsp: Vanilla,

CHOCOLATE GLAZE
3 ounce: Semisweet chocolate,
2 tbsp: Butter Cook together in double boiler 3-5 minutes keep warm,
Whole Dates,
Finely chopped walnuts optional,

Directions:
Preheat oven to 425F. Grease and flour 9 inch round
baking pan. In top of double boiler over simmering
water, combine chocolate chips and butter. Cook 5
minutes or until chocolate melts, stirring constantly;
remove from heat. In large bowl with electric mixer
at high speed, beat eggs and sugar about 5 minutes or
until very light and pale. Gently fold in chopped
dates,flour, vanilla and chocolate mixture into eggs.
Pour into prepared baking pan. Bake 15 minutes or
until edges are set but center is still soft. Cool
cake in pan on wire rack. With knife, loosen edges of
cake and transfer to serving plate.

Meanwhile, prepare Chocolate Glace; pour over torte,
spreading to cover top. Dip whole dates in some of
remaining Chocolate Glaze; place on top of cake and
sprinkle with walnuts. Cut into thin slices to serve.
