Battered Onion Rings Recipe

2 large: To 3 lg onions, (Vidalia, are

powder 1 teaspoon sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 3/4 cup milk 1 egg 2
Tablespoons melted shortening.
Heat shortening to 375 degrees
Peel and slice onions into 1/4 inch slices; seperate into rings.
Sift flour w/ baking powder, salt, and sugar.
Combine milk, egg, and melted shortening,add to dry ingredients all
at once and beat until smoooth.
Dip onion rings into batter and fry until golden brown. Turn once to
brown evenly.
