Lentils With Rice (moujadara) Recipe

Yield: 1 side dish

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup: Lentils,
1/4 tsp: Pepper,
-drained),
1/2 cup: Rice, washed and drained
8 cup: Water,
1/2 cup: Vegetable oil,
1 1/2 tsp: Salt,
1 medium: Onion, julienned

Directions:
Instructions:

1. Wash lentils, drain and place in saucepan. Cover and cook for 1
hour or until lentils are tender.

2. Add salt and pepper to the lentils. Cook at a steady boil on low
heat for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

3. Saute onions in oil until onions are a golden brown. Add to
cooking lentil mixture, stir and remove from heat.

Serve hot or cold with cold yogurt, a salad, pickles and a squeeze of
lemon over each individual serving.
