Mrs. Ahles Molasses Cookies Recipe

Mrs. Ahles Molasses Cookies Recipe

Yield: 1 Batch
Recipe by luhu.jp

Ingredients:
1/2 cup: Sugar,
1/2 cup: Melted shortening,
1/2 cup: Molasses,
1: Egg,
1/2 cup: Boiling water with 1 tsp bkg. soda added,
2 cup: Flour,
1 tsp: Salt,
1 tsp: Cinnamon,
1 tsp: Cloves,
1 tsp: Nutmeg,

Directions:
Mix in order given. The dough will be quite soft for nice spreading
cookies or you can add a bit more flour for a slightly firmer dough and a
more upstanding cookie. They will still be moist and irresistable. Drop by
heaping tsp. or T onto sheet, depending on size of cookie you want. I make
nice 4-5 bite size ones...my brother always made enormous cookies. (I dont
know if its ungr. or greased.....I always grease it to be on the safe
side) :)

Bake in preheated 350 oven for 10 to 15 min. Cool on racks.

Note: This recipe is originally from the Nova Scotia area and is a beloved
recipe that came from a neighbourhood mom in Ontario. I am only sharing it
because I cant stand the thought of kids worldwide growing up
molasses-cookieless. :)
